Bed Weed Control

We offer two-bed weed control programs. The only difference in the two programs is the total number of treatments per year, 5 or 7.
Both programs help keep mulch beds, river rock, pathways, and other ornamental spaces cleaner and more manageable throughout the season.

This is not an organic program, and it uses non-selective herbicides, so anything sprayed directly can be affected. For that reason, weeds growing inside or intertwined with desirable plants will not be sprayed.

This program is also not a replacement for proper mulching or occasional hand-pulling. A fresh 2–3 inch layer of mulch is still essential for suppressing weeds.

Think of Bed Weed Control as strong support for your landscape, not a guarantee of zero weeds.

  • The only difference between the two programs is the number of visits per year, 7 or 5.

    More Frequency = More Control

  • If ZERO weeds is the expectation, please note that assistance from proper mulching practices and the occasional hand pulling of weeds WILL BE REQUIRED. Think of this program as support, not a stand-alone means of having a completely weed-free landscape.

The Bed Weed Control programs are priced and designed to work in tandem with proper mulching practices, not as a stand-alone solution for weeds in landscaped areas.

Maintaining a fresh 2–3-inch layer of mulch is critical for suppressing weed germination, allowing our technicians to complete treatments within the allotted time and product usage.

When mulch is missing or severely degraded, weed pressure increases significantly, requiring substantially more product and technician labor than what is accounted for in the program’s standard pricing.

If excessive labor and product are required due to improper mulching practices during two consecutive treatments, additional charges may be incurred to cover the extra time and materials needed to complete the service.

  • This is a 100% NON-ORGANIC program and it DOES utilize RoundUp (glyphosate) as one of the primary spot spray ingredients.

    • Glyphosate is used due to its effectiveness as a non-selective herbicide that kills weeds down to the root, unlike alternatives that only burn foliage. It also kills warm-season grasses like Bermuda, Zoysia, and St. Augustine, making it ideal for preventing lawns from overtaking ornamental beds and paths. Its unique versatility makes it the best option for comprehensive weed control in these areas.

    • Glyphosate's low cost and effectiveness have made it widely used, especially in agriculture, often leading to overuse and misuse, such as spraying it over much of our food supply. While it does have cancer and health risks, its widespread use has unfairly made it the scapegoat for all "cancer-causing chemicals." Paradoxically, glyphosate is relatively safe; if other herbicides were used in the same quantities and on our food, cancer rates would likely be significantly higher.

  • For clients concerned about chemical use but needing weed control, recommend a small hand pump sprayer and 30 - 50% horticultural vinegar. It’s a safe, non-selective herbicide with minimal health risks other than skin/eye irritation. However, it only burns foliage, not roots, so repeat applications will be necessary.

  • The non-selective herbicides used in this program can not distinguish between weeds and plants. If a weed is growing inside or intertwined in an ornamental plant, it will NOT be sprayed.

    • The one exception to this rule is Bermuda growing in ground cover (asiatic jasmine, juniper, etc.). We carry a specialized herbicide for this very purpose.
